Well-heeled Wellness: Homes with Great Gyms
In honor of the New Year fitness resolutions that many attempt in January, Christie’s Great Estates takes a look at some of the most spectacular home gyms and recreation centers from properties currently on the market.
Alan Jackson’s Sweetbriar Estate in Franklin, Tennessee
Country music superstar Alan Jackson’s 135-acre family compound is replete with a stunning 9,600-square-foot gym. The stand-alone structure houses a hard court surface for tennis, basketball, and volleyball, as well as retractable basketball goals and a retractable movie screen. In addition, a large exercise room inside the magnificent 19,000-square-foot main house is complete with mirrored walls, a rubber mat floor, and vaulted ceiling.
The Gathering Place in New Canaan, Connecticut
A sensational 10,600-square-foot sports barn is the highlight of this sophisticated Northwestern-style estate. The recreation and entertainment center features an NBA-quality half basketball court, a dance studio featuring a mirrored wall and ballet barre, and a full swing golf-simulator room.
Hidden Ponds in Barrington Hills, Illinois
Set in one of Chicago’s most desirable areas, the majestic Hidden Ponds estate features a two-room exercise facility with surround-sound that leads to a full-size gymnasium. The 6,000-square-foot gym doubles as a basketball court and is equipped with official game clocks, badminton and volleyball nets, and full batting cage setup.
